Although the occupation hand stamps were not generally replaced until 1947 the German wording was excised within days of the war ending on the 9th May 1945 in Czechoslovakia.

By 1947 most TPOs had been equipped with new hand stamps and many of the pre-war routes were re-opened, either on the same route or something very similar. All of the post-war hand stamps have a common feature - three ornaments at the base.
The Liberec - Tanwald Sumburk nad Desnou - Zelenzy Brod TPO (No 221) and the Vejprty - Chomutov TPO (No 291) [covers above] both worked to the north western borders of Czechoslovakia, with (the then, East) Germany and Poland respectively. |
